Assigning Custom Fields Using Rules
Rules are one of the primary ways to assign custom fields to products in Xada.
For guidance on creating custom fields, refer to the related articles at the bottom of this page.
Creating an “Assign Custom Field” Rule
To create a rule:
- Go to Rules and click Create Rule
- Enter a clear, descriptive name
- Example: Assign UPF 50 to Sunhats
Step 1 – Define Conditions
Add conditions to specify which products the rule should apply to.
Common example:
- Supplier = Trends
- Category = Apparel/Headwear/Sunhats
These conditions ensure the rule only targets the intended products.
Step 2 – Add the Action
Add an Assign Custom Field action:
- Select the custom field from the dropdown
- Example: UPF Rating
- Enter the value
- Example: 50+
Step 3 – Save and Run the Rule
- Click Create to save the rule
- After saving, click the green arrow and select Update & Run
This will execute the rule and apply the custom field to all matching products.
Step 4 – Verify the Results
- The Products Matched section shows which products the rule applies to
- Click the Edit button on a product to confirm the custom field has been assigned
If the custom field is not visible, ensure you have run the rule.
Step 5 – Publish to Storefront
To reflect the changes on your storefront:
- Option 1: Open a product and click Update & Publish (instant sync)
- Option 2: Go to Exports and run Export to Storefront
