Product Sort Order
Product sort order controls the position in which products are displayed on the storefront. By assigning a numeric sort order value, you can influence whether a product appears higher or lower in product listings. This feature is commonly used to prioritise promotions, seasonal products, or high-value items.
Understanding product sort order values
The product sort order uses numeric values with the following behaviour:
- The lower the number, the higher the product appears
- The higher the number, the lower the product appears
By default, all products have their sort order value set to 0.

Ways to set the product sort order
There are multiple ways to set or update the product sort order, depending on whether you are managing individual products or performing bulk updates.
Option 1: Via the Edit Product page
This method is recommended for individual product updates.
- Go to the Products page.
- Click Edit on the product you want to update.
- Navigate to the Storefront section.
- Locate the Sort Order field.
- Enter a numeric value (for example, -1).
- Click Update to save your changes.
Option 2: Via CSV import
This method is suitable for bulk updates across multiple products.
- Go to the Exports page.
- Export the CSV file for the relevant supplier.
- Update the sort order values in the CSV file.
- Save the file.
- Import the updated CSV file back into Xada.
All updated products will be reordered based on the values provided.
Option 3: Via rules (bulk and automated)
Rules allow you to automatically set product sort order values based on defined conditions.
For example:
- Target a specific category (such as a Christmas category)
- Apply a lower sort order value (for example, -1)
- Ensure all matching products appear at the top of the storefront
This approach is ideal for seasonal promotions, campaigns, or ongoing merchandising strategies.
