Understanding the Difference Between Suppliers and Brands
In Xada, Suppliers and Brands serve different purposes and behave differently when it comes to your storefront.
Understanding this distinction is important, especially when reviewing product visibility and storefront pages.
Suppliers in Xada
Suppliers represent the source of your product data.
- Products are imported from suppliers (e.g. Promodata)
- Suppliers are used for data management, pricing, and rules
- Suppliers are not exported to your storefront
This means:
- Suppliers do not have storefront pages
- They are only used internally within Xada
Brands in Xada
Brands represent how products are grouped and displayed on your storefront.
- Brands are exported to your website (e.g. BigCommerce)
- Brand pages are automatically generated based on assigned products
- Customers interact with brands, not suppliers
How Brand Pages Work
A brand page is created based on active products assigned to that brand.
- If a brand has active products → it appears on the storefront
- If a brand has no active products → it may be removed
Example:
- A brand has only one product assigned
- That product becomes inactive in Xada
- The brand now has no active products
- Xada schedules the brand page for deletion
Summary
- Suppliers = where products come from (internal only)
- Brands = how products are presented on your storefront
Only brands affect what customers see on your website. Suppliers are purely used for managing product data within Xada.
