Creating Product SEO Using Rules
Xada rules can be used to automatically generate and assign SEO fields such as Page Titles and Meta Descriptions across your product catalogue.
This allows you to maintain consistent, optimised SEO content at scale without manually editing each product.
Why Use Rules for SEO
Using rules for SEO helps you:
- Generate consistent page titles and meta descriptions
- Improve search engine visibility across all products
- Avoid manual updates on large catalogues
- Ensure newly imported products are SEO-ready
- Apply different SEO strategies by supplier, category, or product type
How SEO Rules Work
SEO rules follow the same structure as other rules in Xada:
- Conditions → Define which products are targeted
- Actions → Define what SEO content is applied
The values used in rules are typically built from existing product data such as:
- Product name
- Supplier name
- Category
- Custom fields
Creating an SEO Rule
Step 1 – Create a New Rule
- Go to the Rules page
- Click Create Rule
- Enter a clear name
Example:
SEO – Apparel Products
Step 2 – Define Conditions
Set conditions to target the relevant products.
Examples:
- Category = Apparel
- Supplier = Trends
- Product is active
This allows you to tailor SEO content to specific product groups.
Step 3 – Add SEO Actions
In the Actions section, configure your SEO fields:
- Select Create Product Page Title and/or
- Select Create Product Meta Description
Then build a structured value using product data.
See example below:

Running and Applying the Rule
- Click Create
- Review the Products Matched section
- Click Update & Run
The SEO fields will be applied to all matched products.
Once active, the rule will automatically apply to new products after each import.
Ongoing Management
- Update rules as your SEO strategy evolves
- Duplicate rules to create variations for different categories
- Monitor how SEO changes affect your storefront performance
