Managing Product Colours and Sizes

Colours and sizes can be added and managed either via the Edit Product page or through CSV import. This article focuses on managing them through the Edit Product page.

If you are editing a product that was created via an automated supplier feed (for example, Promodata), it will typically already include colours and sizes provided by the supplier. You can add your own colours and sizes and update existing ones. However, as with other supplier-originated data in Xada, these entries cannot be deleted if they originated from the supplier.

How to create a new colour

To create a new colour, click the Add Colour button. This will open a modal window where you can enter the colour details.

Field descriptions:

  • Colour Name: The name of the colour you are creating (e.g. Black).
  • For: Specifies which part of the product the colour applies to (e.g. Lid).
  • Image URL: A publicly accessible image URL hosted externally (for example, on Cloudinary).

Once completed, click Confirm to create the colour.

Please note that duplicate colours are not allowed. If you attempt to create a colour that already exists, an error message will be displayed.

Editing an existing colour

To edit an existing colour, click on the colour name displayed above its image. This will open a modal window where you can update the colour details, such as the name or image.

After making your changes, click Confirm to save them.

How to remove a colour

If you are the originator of a colour, you can delete it. To do this, click on the colour name to open the Update Colour modal, then select Remove Colour.

How to add sizes to a product

To add a new size, click the Add Size button. This will open a modal window where you can enter the desired size.

Click Confirm to create the size.

As with colours, duplicate sizes are not allowed. Attempting to create a size that already exists will result in an error message.

How to delete sizes for a product

While sizes can be freely added via the Edit Product page, they cannot be deleted by users; only deactivated.

Users can rename sizes at any time to fix typos or formatting errors, but if a size has been created that is no longer required, Please contact us at support@abweb.com.au and our team will remove it from the database.

How to set a size–colour variant SKU

If a product has both colours and sizes, you can define a unique SKU for each size–colour combination. This is done by entering a value in the SKU field for the relevant variant.

If the SKU field is left empty, Xada will automatically generate a SKU when the product is exported to the storefront.

How to deactivate a size–colour variant

You can deactivate a specific size–colour combination by unticking the Active checkbox for that variant.

Inactive variants will not be published to the storefront. In the example below, the Brown–S and Brown–M variants are inactive and therefore excluded from publication.

How to set a colour swatch

If a product does not have sizes, colour swatches can be configured directly from the colour list within the Edit Product page. Each colour supports up to three swatches.

If the product does have sizes, you must first click on the colour name to open the colour details modal. From there, configure the swatches and click Confirm to save your changes.

How to activate a colour

Each colour has its own active status and must be active in order to be exported to the storefront.

If a colour includes sizes, and you want both the colour and its variants to be published, ensure that:

  • The colour itself is active, and
  • The relevant size–colour variants are also active.

Only colours and variants marked as active will be published to the storefront.
