Purchasability
Purchasability defines how customers can interact with a product on the storefront. It controls whether a product can be purchased online, requested as a quote, or limited to quote requests only.
Purchasability does not, on its own, determine whether a product is visible on the storefront. It works in conjunction with other product validations and settings.
Where to manage purchasability
Purchasability can be configured from the product edit page:
- Go to the Products page.
- Click Edit on the relevant product.
- Navigate to the Availability section.
- Update the Purchase or request a quote field.
- Click Update to save your changes.

Purchasability Options
Online purchasing and request for quote
This option allows the product to be:
- Purchased online (subject to your storefront settings)
- Requested as a quote
This is commonly used for standard products that can be sold directly but may also require quoting in certain scenarios, such as bulk orders or custom pricing.
Request for quote only
This option publishes the product to the storefront but prevents customers from purchasing it directly.
Customers can view the product and submit a quote request.
Purchasability and Storefront Publishing
Setting a product’s purchasability does not automatically publish the product to the storefront.
For a product to be published, it must still pass all required validations, including (but not limited to):
- Product is set to active
- Supplier is set to active
- Pricing is configured correctly
This applies even to quote-only products.
